This article, The Soul Beyond Life, explores experiences of consciousness beyond physical life, offering tools for understanding the purpose of our existence and the profound self-knowledge of the spiritual world. This experience is achieved through deep hypnosis, in which the client accesses memories of the soul's state between incarnations.

The Soul Beyond Life

Raúl, a 45 year old nurse working in an intensive care unit, decided to embark on a journey into the deepest part of his being through regression hypnosis and Life Between Lives (LBL) therapy. His professional life was devoted to caring for others and complemented by a spiritual search defined by intuition and a growing desire to connect with his true self and purpose, as well as to understand what lies beyond death. Through the following session, he opened himself up to an encounter with his essence, with memories of other lives, and with his spiritual purpose within the framework of human existence.

Raúl described himself as a sensitive, generous, empathetic, and curious man. His spiritual restlessness began five years before the session, when he noticed an increased intensity in his intuition and felt a need to connect with an inner wisdom which, although he felt it to be present, seemed inaccessible. In his personal life, he had experienced moments of peace and clarity, but sensed that he needed guidance in order to fully access that inner space.

The session first led to a regression to a past life in 1620, in the Spanish city of Segovia. There, Raúl identifies as Juan, a merchant whose life is dedicated to his shop and his family. In this life, he experiences the joy of love, but also the deep pain of losing his son Rodrigo and his wife Laura, both to bronchial illnesses. His greatest lesson is facing loss with inner strength and discovering the ability to find happiness within himself.

Client: I continue to do things for other people. They like me; I take the things they buy in my shop to their homes when they can’t come. I take part in church festivities, I take flowers. I enjoy my solitude. I keep my promise to Laura to be strong.

Therapist: How do you do this?

Client: I don’t talk about my problems, people talk to me about theirs. I find strength when I’m alone and it allows me to grow and to evolve. I feel proud of myself when I’m strong, because my happiness is within me, not outside. I’ve learnt about love and that happiness is inside me. I learnt it when I died.

Afterwards, his soul swiftly ascends, enveloped in a deep sense of peace and surrounded by lights which guides him towards a space of spiritual fulfilment. There, he is welcomed by his wife Laura, his son Rodrigo, and his Spirit Guide, Samal. Samal appears with a deep blue energy, tinged with violet and gold, and led him to a golden lake to recharge his energy. Later, he reveals Raúl’s spiritual name: Ellum.

The encounter with the Master Elders is one of the most significant moments. Raúl describes a luminous elliptical hall where he perceives four majestic energies who convey love and recognition during the review of his life.

Client: They tell me I’ve done well and that I’m strong, and that I had to learn that strength lies within me. They’re proud. They give me so much love. (…) The first one, the one in the centre, tells me that I evolved a lot in that life I’ve just left as Juan. That I must forgive myself for the things I blame myself for, because no one else blames me. Now they're laughing. (…) The Guide on the left tells me to use this strength; I can illuminate with love, with laughter, and by listening intelligently. I’m my own main obstacle but I’m learning to overcome it and to believe. Now they embrace me, they surround me. It’s immense. They support me. They tell me I’m doing well in my present life.

Later, Samal led him to the Life Design Space, where he observes scenes from his current life and alternative life options. There he meets Zolim, a green and gold energy, who confirms that his choice of life had been the right one. He also reunites with his soul group, made up of three members, recognising one of them as Azahel (his daughter in his current life, Leticia), a highly advanced soul who had incarnated to help him.

Therapist: Where are you going now?

Client: Now I’m going with my friends; there are three of us. They laugh. I tell them I’ve already chosen, and they tell me I did well. (…) One of them is Azahel. She doesn’t need anything. She came to incarnate to help me. She’s the most advanced of the three. She came to Earth to help me, to give me that strength, that fortitude. Now I see my group. There are fifteen members. They’re white. They’re laughing. The group of fifteen is the one I help; I help them to understand energy. They’re younger souls. This group is under my care.

Raúl discovered that his role in the spiritual world as an energy teacher is to instruct younger souls how to work with energy, a task that he finds natural and fulfilling.

Therapist: What do you do?

Client: We care for other energies under our charge, younger energies that need teaching. I teach them about energy. They struggle. I teach them how to handle energy, how to use it. I teach them using thought how to unite, to build with their energy, with their thought. They tire quickly. I leave them alone when they get distracted and return when they look for me.

Therapist: How is what you do different from what your group does?

Client: They help others move forward, teaching behaviour and understanding. I help with energy, with how to manage it. They have a lot of energy but don’t focus, they don’t know how to use it. I help them learn how to use it. I’m like a teacher, I teach them. There are other souls who accompany them in their evolution; their Guides.

Client: I miss them. They’re fun. They laugh at me. They say I should stop incarnating. They say they can hardly remember their last incarnation. They talk about their last journey in a vast galaxy, watching over other souls incarnated in other life forms.

Raúl also describes journeys to other planets, sojourns in mountain landscapes, and learning in a vast spiritual Library, accompanied by wise beings of loving energy.

Client: I go to other places and rest. It’s cold, but beautiful, there are mountains. I help with my energy. There are plants; they grow; I help with that… It’s very beautiful. More souls come and take care of other things. (…) I travel, I’m curious. I travel to other planets. There’s so much life, many suns, much energy. I visit Earth. It’s very beautiful and has so much life. It’s old, ancient. It has a lot of energy, so much energy. Much work has been done here.

Therapist: Where do you study?

Client: In the library. There are many books. It’s very large, with many wide corridors and lots of tall shelves. There’s a lot of knowledge. I take the books I want without asking. I look for the books about my energy. I think about it and they usually appear. The Guides there don’t like it when I take them without asking.

Therapist: Do you like being in that room?

Client: Yes, but I don't spend much time there, I prefer to travel. When I don’t build something well, I come and learn. The knowledge is in the books. Sometimes my Guide comes and helps me but he has other jobs; still, he comes and guides me. He has many souls in his care. He’s very wise.

Finally, he describes contact with a wise being comprised of red energy, who accompanies him in studying his energy and deepening his knowledge.

Therapist: Do you have a closer relationship with anyone in particular?

Client: Yes, he’s wise, very wise, very wise; he knows me. His energy is red. He’s ancient. He shows me many books; he has answers for everything. His energy is large, elongated; it’s similar to me in size.

At the conclusion of the experience, Raúl assimilates many revelations. He confirms that his central purpose in life is to serve through love, inner strength, and supporting others. He discovers that his role as an energy teacher in the spiritual world resonates with his profession as a nurse in this life, where he teaches, guides, and cares on a human level.

The contact with the Master Elders and his Guide Samal restores his self-confidence and gives him the certainty that his spiritual evolution is ongoing. The instruction to “forgive himself” is especially transformative, as he realises that the judgements he makes came from himself and not from his spiritual environment. Inner strength, learnt in past lives and reaffirmed in this one, become his main resource for continuing his advancement.

The encounter with Azahel allows him to recognise that advanced souls also incarnate to support others on their path. This revelation instills in him a deep sense of gratitude towards his daughter, understanding her role as a guide and support in his present life.

Raúl also values his sense of belonging to his soul group, with whom he shares laughter and learning, and his commitment to his mission as an energy teacher beyond Earth. His spiritual journeys, his studies in the library, and his interactions with other beings confirm him as an old soul with a long history of service and learning.

A while after the session, Raúl contacted me to share a deeply moving and emotional testimony. Below is a short excerpt from his message:

“I can say without any doubt that the experience I had with Mari Cruz Serrano has changed my life. I’m the same, but I am more. She guided and cared for me during what I can now call the most incredible, enriching, and enlightening experience of my life. I’m more aware of my inner self, of what surrounds me, and of the why and what for of my being here. Human language is sparse and inadequate in describing even a tiny fraction of what exists. My most transformative learning was recognising that happiness and strength come from within me, not from the outside. This certainty gave me confidence to live with greater fulfilment and authenticity. I also understood that my work as a nurse is no coincidence, but the expression of my spiritual purpose: to help, teach, and support through the energy of love”.

Raúl’s story offers a universal lesson: true strength lies within each of us, and our path on Earth is closely tied to our soul’s mission. Trusting our Spirit Guide, accepting our trials, and recognising the love that sustains us are fundamental steps on the journey towards fulfilment.
